Earth Day is a global event dedicated to environmental protection and awareness, celebrated on April 22nd. Earth Day is also about planting trees, cleaning up neighborhoods, promoting sustainability, and it’s a day to act for a healthier planet.
Earth Day first started in 1970. On the first day, an estimated 20 million Americans took part in rallies, marches, and teach-ins calling for environmental reform.
In school, kids celebrate Earth Day by planting trees, organizing litter clean-ups, starting composting projects, and conducting waste sorting games.
If we’re not careful in helping the Earth, it could cause horrible damage, such as not cleaning up garbage, wasting food, letting oceans, lakes, ponds, and pools turn into algae, and disregarding human health.
So we must protect the Earth by reducing waste, conserving water and energy, and adopting sustainable habits.
We celebrate Earth today by cleaning up local parks, planting native trees or pollinator gardens, and reducing waste by using reusable items. Some people organize Earth Day Festivals.
At Girl AGain, we care about the Earth a lot. Our store resells American Girl merchandise that people donate to us. Those items would end up in landfills, polluting the environment. We give the chance for those items to be loved again.
Girl AGain was established in February 2014 to rave reviews from American Girl doll fans, their mothers, and especially their grandmothers. Located in the heart of White Plains, Girl AGain is a resale boutique offering an array of authentic, gently used American Girl dolls, clothing, furniture, accessories, and books. Each item is carefully cleaned and prepared for sale, providing families with affordable treasures in a truly one-of-a-kind environment.
