My name is Luke, and I am a new volunteer with Yes She Can, refurbishing donated dolls to sell at Girl AGain.
I am in eighth grade and have been collecting dolls ever since I was 2 years old. At a young age, I began fixing up pre-loved dolls and making unique custom dolls and through that, I learned about Girl Again. Since 2017 I have been purchasing things for my ever-growing collection from them.
I started volunteering in early January and it has truly been incredible for me! I have learned so many new techniques to refurbish dolls and it also has helped me a lot with my patience and interpersonal skills. Some of my favorite things to work on the dolls are silver eye repaints, curly hair restoration, and face-ups. Though I do love doing just a classic restoration once in a while.
My personal collection mainly consists of the American Girl Today line, however, I also love the Historical and Girl of The Year dolls.
Volunteering for Girl Again is truly the best and I am looking forward to future volunteering in person when COVID restrictions are behind us all!
